Paigean Jones embodies the ethos of Audre Lorde's wisdom, believing that "caring for yourself is not selfish." This principle guides her approach as a licensed psychotherapist, registered yoga teacher, and certified perinatal mental health provider. In her practice, Paigean emphasizes the importance of self-care, recognizing it as an essential foundation for personal growth and resilience. Her commitment to holistic well-being extends beyond her professional endeavors, shaping her dedication to guiding individuals toward self-discovery and healing while advocating for the value of self-care in every aspect of life.

 Currently engaged in doctoral studies in Social Work at Howard University, Paigean delves deeply into exploring mindfulness experiences among Black women during the perinatal period. Illustrated through her dissertation, titled "Nothing Without Intention: A Phenomenological Study on Black Women’s Experience with Mindfulness During the Perinatal Period," her dedication shines in addressing critical mental health facets within marginalized communities.

Paigean's diverse academic background highlights her commitment to exploring societal intricacies comprehensively. Her research interests span various crucial areas, including mindfulness, maternal health disparities, gendered racism, and the mental well-being of Black women.

Paigean seamlessly integrates her academic pursuits with her professional endeavors. As the owner of Look Aligned, she specializes in holistic, mindfulness-centered psychotherapy, harmonizing traditional talk therapy with mindfulness-based approaches. Furthermore, she brings extensive teaching experience, having instructed courses in social work and related disciplines, nurturing an environment that values mental wellness and societal understanding.

Her dedication to multifaceted research projects and teaching experiences underscores her adaptability and unwavering commitment to advancing mental health practices across diverse settings.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Paigean actively engages in community service, serving as a coach for Girls on The Run and contributing her expertise to organizations like the Georgia Perinatal Mental Health Taskforce. Research Interests

My research interests revolve around delving deep into mindfulness, particularly within the perinatal experiences of Black women. My dissertation, "Nothing Without Intention," focuses on their mindfulness experiences during this critical period. I'm extensively engaged in exploring topics such as maternal health disparities, gendered racism, and the mental well-being of Black women. I've contributed to academic journals on mental health, racial disparities, and interventions rooted in mindfulness. Additionally, I'm actively involved in research initiatives targeting social determinants of health, perinatal mental health, and strategies to address racial inequalities.
